Dean's Excellence Funds

The deans of The Citadel's five academic schools, listed below, strive for excellence in every arena, placing the utmost importance on the academic success of each cadet and graduate student.

Each dean has an endowed "Excellence Fund" that provides discretionary resources to fund a variety of activities and projects to strengthen the educational experience of cadets and the teaching capability of the faculty. Designated excellence funds also exist to support the Daniel Library and Krause Leadership Center programs and directors.

Such resources enable the dean and students in each academic area to take advantage of opportunities within the discipline as they arise, from conference presentations to participation in symposia, to research beyond the campus gates.

Support for the Dean's Excellence Fund in a particular discipline enables The Citadel to continue its charge to achieve excellence in the education of principled leaders.

Academic excellence funds enrich the learning experience and professional development of the Corps of Cadets and graduate students by providing a sustained and active engagement within their academic field of study.

Dr. Bernard and Sophia Gordon

Dr. Bernard Gordon, Chairman of NeuroLogica Corporation of Danvers, Mass., and his wife Sophia have made a $1.5 million gift via the Gordon Foundation to The Citadel School of Engineering.

This generous contribution will support scholarship, program, equipment and classroom enhancements to advance the college's highly ranked engineering program.
