1. Why do you serve on the Parent Advisory Council?
We would like to help grow the Parent Advisory Council. We are willing to learn as it grows.
2. As the parent of a past cadet, why do you feel it is important to give back to your son’s alma mater?
His experience at The Citadel was extremely beneficial. It is the development of the individual. The qualities of leadership, time management and focus. These qualities should be passed down to incoming knobs.
3. What does The Citadel mean to you and your family?
The historical significance of the college in U.S. and the south. The recognition of both the college and its graduates; it is always a topic of conversation.
4. What advice can you give to parents of cadets, especially knob parents?
For current parents our advice would be, as long as your cadet has focus, understands and respects the system and keeps the proper attitude, there should be success at The Citadel.
For knob parents, the 4th class system is not easy. Just remember, hundreds of Citadel graduates have endured this process. You'll know when he or she needs parental advise and guidance. When they come home for break, it's precious time. Make the most of their breaks. The hardest thing about any break a cadet has is returning to the 4th class system. Unfortunately, some do not return.
5. What other service activities are you involved in—boards, community service, church, etc?
