Members of the Class of 1966,

WE STILL NEED HELP TO REACH THE GOAL!!!

Over the past two weeks, several of our classmates have stepped up and met the challenge to donate to our 50th Reunion project, The Citadel War Memorial.  Our total is now $371,400 and we are still waiting on a few more commitments to arrive.

However, we still need TEN (10) more people to make a pledge by October 15th of at least $7,864 or $1,966 per year (you have until December 31, 2019 to pay) in order to reach our goal of $500,000 to become a Founding Class for this memorial.

Our participation rate is still approximately 60%, well below other classes. Many of you that are attending the reunion have not yet accepted the challenge to donate.  A pledge in any amount will be greatly appreciated. I am personally asking you to donate now.  I know we can do this, after all WE ARE THE CLASS OF 1966!

There are many ways to do this; it is easier than you think.  Please call Josephine Rex now to discuss available options: (843) 953-6716.

Thank you and GO DOGS!,

July 2016

Members of the Class of 1966,

As Chairman of our Campaign Committee, I am sending you a link to a video that addresses our 50th reunion campaign and project goals. To date, we have committed $3,400,000 in cash and deferred gifts exceeding our goal of $3,000,000.

However, our two project goals are still short:

  • $313,496 of $500,000 for the War Memorial
  • $142,977 of $400,000 for our Class of 1966 Athletic Scholarship.
  • Currently, our class participation is 60%.

We have until October 1, 2016 to make a pledge gift to be counted at Homecoming but all pledge payments can be extended until December 31, 2019.  This allows for an above and beyond contribution that will make a bigger impact than ever before!

I know that we can increase our participation rate and achieve our project goals.  After all, we are The Class of 1966!!

I want to thank you for taking time to view the video. Remember, there are many ways to make a contribution.  Josephine Rex with The Citadel Foundation is available to assist and explain the variety of ways you can contribute so please feel free to contact her directly at (843) 953-6716, or via email at jrex@citadel.edu.

Again, I want to thank you for your efforts and look forward to seeing each of you at Homecoming.

Go Dawgs,
Ed Carter

 Class Reunion Campaigns

The Citadel Foundation is working hand-in-hand with each class to create a reunion model that competes with our peer schools and academics. Through this new tradition, known as Class Reunion Campaigns (CRC), those classes celebrating significant reunions will have an opportunity to rally together in support of The Citadel and its greatest needs. Please join the class in leaving a legacy at The Citadel.

In November 2016, the Class of 1966 will return to The Citadel to celebrate their 50th Reunion. To mark this momentous occasion the class has set a goal to raise $3,000,000 for The Citadel.  This includes support for two important projects on campus.  The Citadel is so thankful for the generous commitment of the Class of 1966!

INFINITESIMAL ONE PERCENTERS:

Consider this your first unofficial reminder that the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1966 is only one year away.  Mark your calendars for the weekend of November  4-6, 2016. Be advised that this is a mandatory formation. There will be NO EXCUSED ABSENCES!

Our 50th Reunion provides us with a unique opportunity to rally together as a class in support of The Citadel and its greatest needs.  After considerable research and deliberation, your ’66 Class Reunion Campaign Committee has established an overall goal of $3,000,000 in cash, pledges and legacy gifts.  To date, almost $1,863,164.96 has already been committed.  Within this overall goal, we have selected two projects which need our support.  One is The Citadel War Memorial, which will honor the memory of all Citadel graduates who have fallen in combat, including our classmates who died in Vietnam. Our efforts will recognize us a Founding Class with an inscription on the monument and funds raised in this honor will support The Citadel LEAD Plan 2018, which serves the greatest and most current academic and athletic needs of the college through support of The Citadel’s strategic plan.  The other is the Class of 1966 Athletic Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship fund is already in existence but is minimally funded.  Our goal is to fully endow the scholarship to ensure permanency in its award to a deserving cadet athlete.

Class Reunion projects challenge us to address needs of the college above and beyond those which are routine and recurring.  All gifts and pledges to our class projects will be in addition to, not in lieu of, annual giving to The Citadel Fund, The Brigadier Foundation, and other funds we routinely support as a class.  Keep in mind, every dollar donated counts toward our overall goal and all pledges can be extended through December 2019.  We are asking you to do two things before December 31:

1. Make an over and above pledge in support of one or both of our Reunion projects using the full size Contribution Form

2. Use the enclosed smaller card to make your annual donation to The Citadel Fund. See you next November.

Sincerely,

Class of 1966 Reunion Campaign Committee

Class of 1966 Reunion Campaign Project

The Class of 1966 Reunion Campaign Committee has chosen two projects the class will support for the 50th Class Reunion Campaign.

The Citadel War Memorial Fund
The Class of 1966 is committing to contribute $500,000 to The Citadel War Memorial Fund.  This meaningful addition to campus enables donors to honor the memory of fallen classmates, family, and friends in a meaningful way, while supporting the greatest needs of the college.  In honor of the 50th reunion, all gifts designated to The Citadel War Memorial Fund will be directed to support The Citadel LEAD Plan 2018, which serves the greatest and most current academic and athletic needs of the college through support of The Citadel’s strategic plan.

Class of 1966 Athletic Memorial Scholarship
The project goal of $400,000 is allocated to increase the endowment of The Class of 1966 Memorial Scholarship.  Once fully endowed, this scholarship will be awarded to a deserving cadet athlete.

The Citadel is thankful for the generous commitment of the Class of 1966.
